In June 2018, Storefront for Art and Architecture will present the New York Architecture Book Fair. This event marks the launch of a ten-month series of discussions and programs aimed at reflecting upon the last thirty five years of architecture book production in a global context. With an archeological and projective twist, the New York Architecture Book Fair seeks to both celebrate and evaluate the published and the missing volumes of a history still in the writing. With a Global Survey of Architecture Books, the Book of Architecture Books, and a series of events in New York City (including salons in the home libraries of New York architects, a network of pop up architecture selections within local bookstores, and an exhibition at Storefront’s gallery space), this first edition of the New York Architecture Book Fair aims to agitate the discussion and debate in and around architecture books. To help us identify some of the publications (both real and fictional) that should be the fundamental references of our global contemporary culture, this event will present the views of contemporary architects and critics.
