The spiral configuration of this furniture encourages conversations. Thanks to its curved shape the bodies of seated people turn comfortably towards one another. Each quarter circle segment increases in size from one to the next, growing in the increments of the Golden Ratio. The first piece is a lounge chair with an 35 1/2 inches radius backrest, the second element is a sofa with a 57 inches radius for two to three people, and the third is a 92 1/2” section for up to five people. The Fibonacci Sofa can grow infinitely with segments for up to twelve people, and it can be arranged in layouts other than spirals.
Its structure is made out of plywood bent under tension. The backrest and the seat are formed by two 27 1/2 inch wide curves meeting at a 90º angle. In this first edition, natural latex foam is upholstered with furry Kvadrat fabric designed by Raf Simons, but we would be happy to discuss other options.
